I am very grateful for all the good that Christian Science has brought into my life. My nervous system was out of order, my heart always troubled me, and a nerve condition in my throat irritated me, causing an annoying permanent cough. I was also troubled with rheumatism and nerve pains in my right leg, and I had been suffering for about three years from lumbago, for which I had tried many kinds of medical treatment and different kinds of baths and massage; but nothing helped me. In the summer of 1925 I had a very painful attack, the worst I ever had. A friend who came to visit me advised me to try Christian Science. She telephoned to a practitioner, who lovingly promised to work for me; and after a few days I was healed of the lumbago, and could make a trip that I had planned.
When I returned home I earnestly began to study Christian Science with the help of a practitioner. Through daily study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I improved; all pain in my leg and irritation in my throat disappeared, and my heart was well within two years. I have thus found that Christian Science is a practical religion, which helps us in the troubles of daily life. Often small inharmonies occur in domestic life, which can be overcome immediately with the help of Truth. Once I scalded my right leg with boiling water. When I understanding looked down on it and said, "Do you believe you have intelligence?" the pain instantly disappeared, and there was no mark of the accident.
I am very grateful for all physical healings, but I am still more thankful to Christian Science for teaching me how to become conscious of man's unity with God. I now understand what our Master meant by saying, "The kingdom of God is within you." Oh, the joy and happiness that follow when one realizes that the Christ-power still is with us to heal and to save! The textbook, which at first seemed dull, is now very dear to me, and I better understand the Bible, which contains the word of Life. I am very thankful to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for pointing out the way to Truth, to knowledge of divine Love, which is always present to meet every human need.—Stockholm, Sweden
