Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German]

I wish to express my gratitude for...

From the August 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my gratitude for all the help I have so far experienced in Christian Science. As an after effect of active service in the army, my nerves were supposed to be completely ruined. I was so ill that I was given an official card of identification, which entitled me always to be accompanied by someone because I was not able to be alone. Although I received The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition) regularly from America, and also had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I could not overcome the terrible physical conditions alone; so I dragged myself to a practitioner to ask for help, although I did not know how I was going to climb the stairs.

After the first treatment and the explanations which were given me, I was able to go down the stairs with less difficulty, and felt very much relieved. I also had the problem of supply to solve, for my only income consisted of a small army pension. I could not work on account of the state of my health, and the phantom of general unemployment was ever before me. Soon after my health had begun to improve I found light employment for the evening hours. My wife and I had as a home only a small attic. Our furniture was stored somewhere else. This, too, had to be paid for. As a result of the faithful work of the practitioner and my awakened obedience in applying the teachings of Christian Science, we were able to make arrangements with the owner of the house in which we lived for a second room, so that we could have our furniture.

I was very grateful for all progress and every small improvement; and after four months' treatment I felt, and still feel, completely free from the former afflictions. With God's gracious help the problem of supply has been solved in the same proportion; for I have now found a permanent position.
