When I look back on the twenty-odd...

From the August 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I look back on the twenty-odd years that Christian Science has sustained and protected me, I realize that I could never in one testimony begin to express the gratitude I feel for all the blessings received. We may not always escape unpleasant experiences, but our knowledge of Christian Science can protect us from unhappy results. This was beautifully demonstrated to me when I fell down a flight of sixteen steps. I knew as I was falling that God never caused an accident, so that when my husband picked me up at the bottom of the steps I was able immediately to declare that I was not hurt. It took me a little time to quiet the fear of my husband, who is not a student of Christian Science, but when I had done that I was able to go back upstairs unaided and continue with the housework which I was doing before I fell.

Christian Science helped me to overcome the belief in death and separation when my only son passed on in an aerial collision in London in 1918.

During all the time I have been studying Christian Science I have never had treatment from a practitioner. I mention this in deep gratitude that I have been able to get the healing by going direct to God; and I know the same can be accomplished by anyone, for "God is no respecter of persons."
