Testimonies of Healing

Many have been the blessings received...

From the December 1934 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many have been the blessings received and the lessons learned since I began the study of Christian Science some years ago. I have had many physical healings for which I am indeed grateful, but I am much more grateful to have a growing knowledge of a religion which I can take with me every day, everywhere, and which is available to meet my every need and solve all my problems.

One of my first healings was of a diseased condition of the heel. I do not know what the medical name would be, but I was in constant pain and had to walk on the ball of that foot. This healing was accomplished through the work of a friend, before I understood enough of this Science to add much constructive thought. Other healings have been of the need of wearing glasses after wearing them more than twelve years, a finger badly cut on a paper cutter, fainting spells, nervousness, a sprained ankle at two different times, several foot ailments, and many more erroneous conditions. Some of these difficulties have been overcome with the help of a practitioner or some friend, and some through my own work and study. Many undesirable traits of character are also disappearing.

The healing which to me stands out as the most remarkable is one that I experienced in 1929, and it was instantaneous. I was struck across the head and face with a golf club in full swing. The impact was heard at the club house some little distance away. The pain was intense and for an instant I thought I should lose consciousness, but immediately "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health (p. 468) came to my thought. I stood there declaring the truth and trying to realize as never before the full import of that passage. In two or three minutes the intense pain was gone and I was able to tell the person who had swung the club, and who was terrified, that I had no pain and was all right. We then continued on around until we had finished the nine holes. The skin was not broken, the swelling was scarcely noticeable, and no discoloration ever appeared. My head and face were slightly sore to the touch for two or three days, but no discomfort was experienced after the first few minutes. I am so very grateful for this proof of the ever-availability of Truth.
