Christian Science came to me at a time when there seemed to be no happiness or any reason for hope left in the world for me. I was in great sorrow, having been told by a number of physicians that my elder child, a girl eleven years of age, could not live, and that medical science had done all that could be done for her.
When my money was exhausted, and the doctors gave no hope, I prayed to God, who then seemed afar off, to show me the way. At this time Christian Science was presented to me by a lady, who told me of God's love, power, and goodness, which truths I accepted immediately; and I asked her where I could learn more of this Science. She told me of the textbook, Science and Health, and the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I found a practitioner living near me, so took my little girl to her. Despair was replaced with hope and joy. Within a few days I realized that my daughter was free from all the physical troubles which had held her in bondage for so many years. I had indeed found the "pearl of great price." My other child was also in delicate health, but, my thought being lifted to trust God, my children have not had any doctoring or medicine since that day.
We have had many beautiful healings in the last fifteen years, such as the overcoming of pneumonia, tonsillitis, ulcerated tooth, typhoid fever, and sprained hip. Many other ills have presented themselves, only to be quickly routed by Truth.
