I am deeply grateful to God for Christian Science and for all it has done for me in the past ten years.
When I first heard of it, I was in need of a healing of nervous debility and chronic constipation, which had failed to yield to prolonged medical treatment. A neighbor lovingly told me of her healing of a similar condition through Christian Science treatment. I marveled at this healing and agreed to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. That morning I read the chapter on Prayer, and great illumination came to my thought. I rejoiced again and again that at last I was reading the truth. Many questions that had puzzled me in spite of earnest study of the Bible in the orthodox church were now being answered. That morning I was instantaneously healed of the erroneous condition.
Since then there have been many beautiful healings in our home and a steadily growing awareness of God's ever-presence, guidance, and love. With the help of a Christian Science practitioner and a Christian Science nurse our thought was lifted above the sense of material creation when our little daughter was born. It was a joyous experience. One thought that is ever with me is in Mrs. Eddy's words (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 87): "In our immature sense of spiritual things, let us say of the beauties of the sensuous universe: 'I love your promise; and shall know, some time, the spiritual reality and substance of form, light, and color, of what I now through you discern dimly; and knowing this, I shall be satisfied. Matter is a frail conception of mortal mind; and mortal mind is a poorer representative of the beauty, grandeur, and glory of the immortal Mind.'"
