LECTURE PREPARATION

From the September 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This editorial is intended primarily for church members who desire to become better acquainted with the preparation necessary for a successful Christian Science lecture. It is culled from the experience of one who has served as chairman of the lecture committee in a branch church and also as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Just over fifty years ago Mrs. Eddy instituted The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, the first Christian Science lecture being given on February 14, 1898. Since that date many thousands have become better acquainted with Christian Science through the work of this Board, and large numbers have experienced healing of functional and organic difficulties.

Mrs. Eddy writes in her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 (p. 25), "Building on the rock of Christ's teachings, we have a superstructure eternal in the heavens, omnipotent on earth, encompassing time and eternity."
