About eleven years ago, before I was interested in Christian Science, I fell heavily on a wet sidewalk. Subsequently there was so much pain concurrent with any movement of my body that medical help was sought, and the difficulty was diagnosed as a dislocation of the sacroiliac joint on the left side. The wearing of a heavy, tight-fitting brace was prescribed and all unnecessary physical exertion prohibited.
During this time there appeared a sense of great exhaustion, loss of flesh, mental depression, distress after eating, colitis, heart palpitation, and a general nervous breakdown. I spent most of my time in bed. After trying in several directions to obtain healing through materia medica, I finally gave up the effort. At times I felt the temptation to destroy myself.
Through loving friends and through a relative who is a teacher and practitioner of Christian Science, this saving and healing religion was presented to me. I sought help from a practitioner and began to improve at once. She told me to claim my inheritance as a son of God the same as I would a material inheritance, which could be useful only when I claimed it as mine. I shall always be grateful for her patient leading of my early footsteps in Christian Science and for establishing my thought on the Rock, Christ, Truth.
