Christian Science reveals the allness, the wholeness, and the reality of Life, God, and man's true being in God as His reflection, or manifestation. As the coming of dawn dispels the shades of night, so the recognition of man's spiritual identity discloses the utter falsity and nothingness of the belief of a mortal life with its sordid record of sin, sickness, discord, and death.
Material belief parades as a mortal born of matter and ending in a bewildering, enigmatical climax called death. Christian Science, however, affirms and reaffirms the Biblical truth that man is made in God's image and thus is immortal, spiritual, and eternal, and demonstrates this truth by bringing to light increased health, harmony, and holiness. Reasoning from the premise that Spirit, God, is real and matter therefore unreal, Christian Science unmasks mortal existence and shows it to be a counterfeit creation, having no place or entity. In the true, spiritual universe God's man eternally dwells in the consciousness of Love's allness and is forever incapable of sin, sickness, or death.
The light of spiritual understanding which the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy shed upon the words and works of Christ Jesus awakens first the desire, then the glorious ability, to live a life of love and service and to repeat in a measure the Master's works of healing. We can readily perceive, therefore, that we must begin the demonstration of eternal Life with our daily over-comings of sin. "Sin brought death, and death will disappear with the disappearance of sin. Man is immortal, and the body cannot die, because matter has no life to surrender. The human concepts named matter, death, disease, sickness, and sin are all that can be destroyed." So writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 426 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
