Travel light! This is good advice to any traveler. It is the best possible advice to the happy traveler who is making his way up the hill of Christian Science, traveling from sense to Soul on his way to the promised land.
When we remain in one locality for any length of time, it is amazing how much we accumulate. So in our spiritual experience, if we are not constantly moving forward to understand and demonstrate more of the facts of Spirit, we may find our thinking occupied with a mass of mental baggage which is a handicap, and not a help, in our advancement.
Christian Science has revealed to us the Christ, the spiritual idea of God. It has pointed a progressive way in which we can walk, not only to redeem ourselves from sin, suffering, and death, but to help others do likewise. In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy gives us an allegory in which she describes a city set upon a hill, bathed in light and glory. A Stranger comes down from the city to assist those waiting expectantly in the valley to ascend the mountain.
