In establishing The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, provided us with the opportunity to give written public testimony to the healing power of God. Because I have been helped by reading of the healings of others for many years, I should like to express my gratitude and share some of my healings. Among cherished blessings is the privilege I had of attending a Christian Science Sunday School from early childhood. Here I was taught a sincere love for the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy.
When I was in high school, it was necessary to submit to a physical examination. I was asked who my family doctor was, and when I explained that I was a Christian Scientist, I was told that I had a heart condition that was serious and would require more than religion. When I told my mother of this later that day, we decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. He assured us that because God is the great Physician, we need have no fear. Within two weeks the healing was complete. When it was necessary to have a medical examination to enter a university and later to enter government service, my heart was declared to be in excellent condition.
In 1935 it was my privilege to become an associate at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, an experience for which I have become increasingly grateful. Soon after I began my duties there, my feet caused me much discomfort, and I was in constant pain. One evening while attending the song service at the Sanatorium, I found my attention drawn to Hymn No. 324, the second stanza of which reads in part:
