CONCEPTS TRUE AND FALSE

From the September 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

IT is obvious that consciousness includes concepts, or thoughts. And one's concept of anything indicates one's state of mind. Christian Science opens up a fresh approach to life by its explanation that every true concept comes from God; also that matter is not something apart from the human consciousness beholding it but is a mode of that consciousness—its concept.

The Christian Scientist knows that by spiritualizing his human consciousness, he improves every concept he entertains. Utilizing spiritual sense, he gradually becomes conscious of the radiant, powerladen, divine concepts, which are God-created spiritual ideas. Then limited and faulty human concepts give place gradually to perfect, divine ideas and the healing of body and environment takes place. This transformation will continue until every misconception disappears and true concepts alone are entertained.

Mary Baker Eddy refers to accurate views of God's creation in the chapter entitled "Creation" in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Then she says (p. 255): "Mortal man has made a covenant with his eyes to belittle Deity with human conceptions. In league with material sense, mortals take limited views of all things."
