My first experience in Christian Science...

From the September 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My first experience in Christian Science was the healing of sinus trouble, a condition that had bothered me for a number of years.

This Science had been presented to me by friends in another town several years prior to this, but I was not ready to accept it at that time. Then one day the condition became so severe that I telephoned the physician. He said he would change my medicine. But when I looked at the new medicine which my husband brought home, I was convinced there was no healing power in it. This took place on a Saturday, and I turned to my husband and said: "If you will take me to the Christian Science church in the morning I will investigate Christian Science. I believe it will help me."

My husband was glad to do this, for he himself had sincerely wanted to know something of Science. We took our son, who was three and a half years of age, and went early enough to place him in the Sunday School, which was held before the morning service. I shall never forget the love and understanding expressed to me by the Sunday School superintendent. She evidently saw my great need, and when she was free she talked to me of God, of His allness and goodness, and told me that He made all that was really made and that it is good. She told me that I might borrow from a Christian Science Reading Room Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She also recommended that I study the ninety-first Psalm, knowing as I did so that its promises were meant for me.
