I was introduced to Christian Science in 1939 by a dear aunt. My husband had been suffering from heart disease. He could not sleep at night. Even with sedatives he slept only a short time. We were both very fearful. I was young and we had two small sons. My father had just passed on with the same disease.
I knew nothing at all of Christian Science, but one evening my aunt came to our room with a book in her hand. She asked if I would read from the book. This was my first contact with Science and Health, the textbook written by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
After my aunt had gone, I began to read aloud from the first chapter, which is entitled "Prayer." I had not read much more than the first two pages, when my husband fell asleep and had the first good night's sleep he had had in many months. We were both overjoyed. That was a beautiful instantaneous healing, and the last of the sedatives. In fact, the last of all medicines.
