My first contact with Christian Science came through a sister, who had been told by a physician that she would never be well unless she underwent an operation for an internal injury, which had made her a semi-invalid for several years. This sister had attended a Christian Science Sunday School one Sunday with a friend, who was aware of her need. As a result of this one visit to the Sunday School, my sister turned to Christian Science for help. With the help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner she was healed in one week of the internal injury, as well as of chronic and acute indigestion. Her testimony concerning these healings was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of May 11, 1929.
On returning from the first visit to the practitioner's office my sister and I destroyed all the material remedies we had, as we had decided to rely completely on God for healing. Together with our mother, we began a daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. We attended church services regularly and endeavored to use what we were learning. As a result we received many blessings, one of which was our mother 's healing of a heart difficulty that had troubled her for many years.
During the first week of my study I found myself healed of constipation, from which I had suffered since childhood, and for which I had been given many material remedies. This healing and my sister's were cause for great rejoicing, and they strengthened my conviction that Christian Science is indeed the truth of being.
