Armed Services Activities
The ministry of Christian Science Activities for Armed Services Personnel reaches around the world. It benefits men and women in the armed forces of many different countries by providing regular Christian Science services, Christian Science treatment, and other assistance.
The Mother Church will gladly furnish information about these activities—plus a directory of Chaplains, Ministers, and Representatives in Africa, Asia, Australia, the British Isles, Canada, Europe, the United States, and other countries.
Service personnel or their families are asked to send names and addresses of Christian Scientists in the armed forces to:
The First Church of Christ, Scientist
Christian Science Activities
for Armed Services Personnel
Christian Science Center
Boston, MA, U.S.A. 02115.
Promptly reporting changes of military address will help this office be of greatest service.
And Christian Scientists are encouraged to register as Christian Scientists, rather than under the general term "Protestant." In the armed forces of several countries they may have the words "Christian Science" or a meaningful abbreviation stamped on their identification tags.
Service personnel may obtain information about Christian Science activities at military installations from the Chaplain's office at each installation, or by writing direct to The Mother Church at the above address.

Or you can usually borrow a copy from a local public library. If you wish you can order direct from Miss Frances C. Carlson, Publisher's Agent, One Norway Street, Boston, MA, U.S.A. 02115.

News for Church in Action
Inspired, prayer-based church activity heals. It proves Christian Science. And news of what it accomplishes deserves to be shared, so others can benefit.
When your branch church, society, or college organization is experiencing good healing at its services, when your Sunday School is an exciting place to be, when your Reading Room is especially active, when your church committees are finding new, more effective ways to embrace the community, this is church in action. And we'd like to know about it—how you make it happen. News from overseas branches is particularly welcome.
We aren't necessarily asking for a complete report (although that's fine if you want to make one), just a concise summary of the activity—including its healing effect. This will give an idea of its potential as a Church in Action story. Then we can follow up if we need further details.
Please send your report to:

Membership—an expression of love
You show your love for God in many ways.
One way is by the love you feel for mankind, everywhere. Membership in The Mother Church expresses this love, enabling you to share in healing activities that embrace the whole world—such things as:
—Issuing Christian Science literature in many languages.
—Dispatching lecturers to remotest points.
— Making Mary Baker Eddy's writings available worldwide.
Your membership also expresses your gratitude and support for a great Cause and your love for the teaching that has blessed you. Your Church needs these expressions of love.
Ask any Mother Church member, branch church clerk, or journal-listed practitioner about how to join, or write George W. Ledbetter, Clerk, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Christian Science Center, Boston, MA, U.S.A. 02115.
More helpful testimonies
It's inspiring to learn how Christian Science heals. That's why it's so important for those submitting testimonies for use in the periodicals to include a fuller explanation of what brought about the healing—in terms a newcomer to Christian Science can understand.
If you've had a convincing physical healing through total reliance on God in Christian Science, we would like to encourage you to share some of the truths that inspired you. What we need is a clear, reader-oriented explanation of the change of thought that accompanied the healing.
Helpful suggestions for writing your testimony and specific instructions for submitting it (together with necessary verifications) are contained in our pamphlet, Guide to Writing for the Periodicals. If you would like a free copy, please write to:

Those who write articles and poems for the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald—as well as religious articles for The Home Forum page of the Monitor—must be members of The Mother Church. But you need not be a member to submit a testimony of healing in Christian Science. Testimonies are welcomed not only from members but from those who haven't yet joined The Mother Church.
All contributions accepted for publication become the sole property of The Christian Science Publishing Society.
It's a message and an opportunity
Your per capita tax is a way of saying you're glad you belong to The Mother Church and you like keeping in touch on a regular basis. It's a kind of "vote of confidence" in the Church's efforts all over the world.
It's also a yearly opportunity to contribute to the various Church funds listed on the back of the per capita tax form. Through this additional thoughtful support you can tell us of your appreciation for specific activities. The current list of funds includes:
Fund for The Christian Science Monitor
Charitable Institutions Fund
Relief Fund
Fund for Developing Areas
General Purpose Fund
So your per capita tax payment, and any further contributions you make, are important messages to us. And we're always grateful to hear from you.
Contributions should be addressed to:

Planning a trip to Boston?
You may wish to include visits to two of Mary Baker Eddy's former homes:
1908-1910 CHESTNUT HILL, MASSACHUSETTS—At 400 Beacon Street, Mrs. Eddy's home when she founded The Christian Science Monitor. An exhibit traces her role as Founder and Leader of our movement—preaching, teaching, writing, and commenting on issues still current.
Open May 1 through October 31, 10 to 5 weekdays (including Saturdays), 2 to 5 Sundays; November 1 through April 30, 10 to 4 Saturdays only, 2 to 5 Sundays; closed all holidays except Memorial Day (last Monday in May) and Bunker Hill Day (June 17).
1875-1882 LYNN, MASSACHUSETTS— At 12 Broad Street, where 100 years ago Mrs. Eddy completed her manuscript for Science and Health. It was while living here that Mrs. Eddy initiated many foundational steps in establishing the Christian Science movement. These include the formation of the Christian Scientist Association; the Church of Christ, Scientist; the Massachusetts Metaphysical College. Here also Mrs. Eddy was ordained as Pastor of her church.
Open May 1 through October 31, 10 to 5 weekdays (including Saturdays), 2 to 5 Sundays; November 1 through April 30, 10 to 3 Saturdays only, 2 to 5 Sundays; closed all holidays except Memorial Day (last Monday in May) and Bunker Hill Day (June 17).
The map "Mary Baker Eddy and New England" gives further information on these and other historical sites, all within a day's drive of Boston. This map is available at the historical houses, at the information desk in the Publishing Society, and also by mail from the Archivist of The Mother Church.
