It takes thought to make a plan, power and intelligence to carry it out. Since God, Love, is the only Mind, Love's design is the only plan. The Father-Mother of all is omnipotent Love, the Mind of the infinite universe. And God, Love, has all power, all intelligence, in carrying out His plan. This is fact, and it operates in our experience as omnipotent law in the degree that we understand it, hold to it, and reflect Truth and Love.
A student of Christian Science found it extremely helpful to dwell often on the fact of Love's perfect design—to declare that Love's design is supreme, ever operating as the only influence and activity in our lives. This enabled him to realize that because there is no mortal mind to talk to God, Mind (for Mind is Spirit), neither could there be a mortal mind (material sense) to talk to him or to know him in his real being as individual, spiritual man.
God, Spirit, omnipotent Love, is eternal individuality and is reflected by all spiritual individuality. Each one really exists as individual, spiritual man, not physical personality. It does so much for us to identify ourselves as individual, spiritual man, filling our perfect place in the divine order. Acknowledgment of Love's design, ever operating, causes us to know, to feel, the presence and love of God—infinite individuality—and our individual oneness with the Father-Mother.
In the following statement Mrs. Eddy makes clear the power of Love's design: "He who has named the name of Christ, who has virtually accepted the divine claims of Truth and Love in divine Science, is daily departing from evil; and all the wicked endeavors of suppositional demons can never change the current of that life from steadfastly flowing on to God, its divine source." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 19;
Holding to the fact that Love is the power of the universe, declaring that Love's design is ever operating, we are untouched by mortal beliefs about man, and our life does flow steadfastly to God, its source.
Christ Jesus, who knew and proved that Love is the power of the universe, said, "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12:32; And Mrs. Eddy, who understood the supremacy of Love's design, writes, "It is the purpose of divine Love to resurrect the understanding, and the kingdom of God, the reign of harmony already within us."Mis., p. 154;
Mortal mind claims it has a pattern. Seemingly there are false beliefs governing a mortal at every step of his experience. But keeping before us that we are individual, spiritual man, governed by the fact — the law—of Love's perfect design, offsets these false beliefs about man and enables us to experience harmony.
The more we realize the ceaseless operation of omnipotent Love's design, the less we believe we are physical personalities subject to mortal mind, and the more confidence we have in Love's purpose.
God's purpose for man is brought out in these words from the Bible: "The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand . . . . For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?" Isa. 14:24, 27.
