Mind-based intelligence

From the May 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Intelligence comes from God. And God is Spirit, not matter; He is Mind, not brain. As we begin learning more of God as infinite consciousness, the only Ego, we will think and act more intelligently, more perceptively. And when we relinquish altogether the belief that wisdom and understanding have a material origin, we will demonstrate man's full sonship with divine Mind.

This is our destiny: to prove that man's perfection as Mind's expression is intact; that real being has never been separated from God. This is what Christ Jesus proved. He showed that man's Mind is pure, divine, eternal. For each of us the proof comes step by step as we discern and demonstrate the most elementary facts of reality, and challenge the most fundamental errors of materiality.

One of those basic truths of reality is that genuine consciousness is Christly, the unerring reflection of immortal Mind. The Christian metaphysician recognizes this purely spiritual source of intelligence. A contrasting material theory is that the brain provides intelligence through electrochemical impulses. What is the significance of these widely divergent assessments of intelligence?
