Spiritual feeling identified

From the May 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

If physical discomfort assails them, Christian Scientists are usually quick to deny the discomfort from the standpoint of Science. We affirm conscientiously that it is without cause or power, because we understand these to be vested in omnipresent divine Spirit.

We may be staunch in our refusal to believe there is any material consciousness to experience pain or any matter where it can be felt. Yet comfort may elude us. With all the certainty of what is not happening, we may mentally gaze bleakly into a great white mist. We need to realize and contemplate what is going on.

The belief in uncomfortable matter is a lie about true feeling, which is spiritual, harmonious. "Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy,"Science and Health, p. 249 Mrs. Eddy proposes in the Christian Science textbook.
