"There is no disease"

From the January 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, "What is termed disease does not exist."Science and Health, p. 188. One has but to look at the world around him to see that this teaching flies in the face of human experience.

And yet Christian Science teaches that this statement not only is biblically based but is scientific fact! These verses from the Bible (and there are many similar ones) have been helpful to me in establishing a logical basis for concluding that the Bible teaches the unreality of disease:

• "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. . . . And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."Gen. 1:1, 31. Here it is stated that God created all and made it "very good." Since disease is not good but very bad, God did not create it.
