The master Scientist, Jesus the Christ, once said to his disciples, grouped intently around him on the Mount of Olives, "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." Thus by a simple contrast he brought to their comprehension the fact that Truth alone is eternal.
The disciple of to-day has at his command not only the truths revealed in Jesus' words, but also the Science whereby those truths may be practically and accurately applied. Jesus disclosed the truths of being to mankind. Mary Baker Eddy discovered how to bring those truths into our everyday affairs, so that each day may become a day of golden opportunity, rich in achievement. He gave us the tools; she showed us how to use them.
Her discovery, set forth in our textbook, will stand unshaken throughout the ages. Lest we become unmindful of the giver in our contemplation of her gift, we should think of our Leader not only as the Discoverer and Founder of a great Science, but also as its appreciative exponent and practitioner. Wherever Christian Science has been established there are to be found earnest students of its textbook; but the world has not produced one who held that book in higher esteem and who studied it more assiduously than the author herself. She recognized that its pages contain inspired statements of Truth which may require ages to demonstrate fully, and which will endure beyond the end of error.
