Scientific ethics— the Church and its mission

From the May 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Neither dishonesty nor ignorance ever founded, nor can they overthrow a scientific system of ethics" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 464).

A system of ethics that is truly scientific—Christianly scientific—is fully and firmly grounded on the laws of God. Those laws, proceeding from divine Principle and infinite Love, are eternal; and therefore they continuously uphold and maintain the ethics they impel.

Accordingly, these laws of God impart to "a scientific system of ethics" order, integrity, purity, compassion, and grace. These are inherent qualities of the absolute Principle that is perfect Love. They are qualities equally integral to the Church whose mission includes presenting the laws of Principle and Love to humanity today—the Church of Christ, Scientist.
