Science and Health states, "Christ is the ideal Truth, that comes to heal sickness and sin through Christian Science, and attributes all power to God" (p. 473). In a healing in November 1992, I felt the power of the Christ as an uplifting and purifying power in my consciousness.
I had returned to England from Toronto, after being with relatives for four months. I went shopping for the supplies I had run out of, and purchased literally everything I needed. When I picked up my heavy and overloaded shopping bag to leave a store, I was overcome with a most excruciating pain in my chest. Quickly I put the bag down and reached out in prayer to God. As I struggled to maintain consciousness and breathe, I fervently claimed that God was my Life.
It came to me very strongly that it was not the beat of my heart that gave me life, but it was divine Life that made my heart beat. Gradually my breathing and heartbeat became normal, and though I felt rather tired, I was able to walk to my car and get home.
