From a branch church treasurer's report

From the February 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What better way to approach the finances of a branch church than to think of every transaction—not only every dollar we take in, but every dollar we spend—as an expression of love! The whole "business" we're in as church members is to manifest God's love to mankind. In fact, serving church is like opening ourselves up to take in more of God's abundant love, which is ours to spend freely. We can regard every expenditure of the church as an opportunity to interact lovingly with our community; we need not feel threatened or diminished by any reasonable cash outlay. And loving church enough to serve it and pray for it is one way to ensure its prosperity.

The payment of committee expenses gives a great, perhaps heretofore untapped, opportunity for our church to express its outreaching love to the community.
