Testimonies of Healing

God's power touches many aspects of a woman's life

From the March 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

After Six Years of marriage, my husband and I were blessed with a darling baby daughter. She slept in a bassinet near our bed. About three o'clock one morning I heard a slight rustle in the bassinet. I turned on the light to find our little one strangling and fighting the covers. Nothing we did seemed to help. Her breathing was still difficult. This was our first baby, and I was very frightened and didn't know what to do. It was suddenly clear to me that I needed to pray. I took the little one in my arms, sat in a rocking chair, and reached out to God. I knew God was all-power and all-presence. I held her and silently prayed for several hours until finally she sneezed and began breathing normally again. I often ask myself, Are there enough words to express my thanks to God for this and the many healings that followed!

"Yes, I'm going
to keep praying
because I know
Christian Science
heals."

Once while my husband and I were operating a small dairy farm, a drought had hit hard in the area. We had to buy hay for the cows and had little money left for clothes. It was winter and cold. While I was washing dishes one day, I suddenly had a deep desire to obtain warmer clothes for our child. My thoughts flashed back to a wonderful time as a child when for a short while I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School. I remembered the beautiful sign on the wall that read: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" ( Science and Health, p. 494). All worry vanished, and I said to myself, "Well, if she needs them, she will get them." A few days later a package came from my sister. It contained two pairs of flannel-lined jeans for our little one. How true the words of Isaiah, "Before they call, I will answer" (65:24).
