Love's restoring touch

From the May 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"The man we hated
without cause
touched my severed ear
and healed it.

"History knows me only
as the high priest's servant.
I had never known such love
nor how to give it,
so I stood by
and watched him crucified." See Luke 22:50, 51 .

Moving out of history
and into our lives,
so much more was restored us
through this reach of Christ Jesus,
even from the cross, praying,
"Father, forgive them."

Thus we learn love
and how to live it—
tenderly touching
both wounded and sinner.
