KIDS' PLACE

On the flight to Perth

From the August 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Australia, where I live, the seasons are reversed because we live below the equator. So summer comes in December. Last Christmas, I spent my summer holidays with my aunt and family in Perth. We had to fly to get there because I live in Karratha, which is about 1,500 kilometers north of Perth, in Western Australia.

When I've flown before, I've had trouble with my ears popping and hurting. That happened this time, too. During the flight my ears began to pop and continued to do that for a few days afterward.

My nana and I pray together a lot, so when my ears were bothering me this time, we both prayed. One of the ideas that helped me was that God doesn't send pain. He loves me and comforts me, and there's no place that isn't filled with His love. Since that's true, then there couldn't be any room for pain. As we prayed this way, I felt better.
