NATURAL HUMILITY

A CONVERSATION WITH BILL MOODY

From the May 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

According to metaphysician WILLIAM MOODY, to heal others as Jesus did requires humility—humility that springs from the assurance that we are God's divine ideas and thus coexistent with the infinite Mind that created and maintains us.

WILLIAM MOODY found Christian Science in college when a friend shared a copy of Science and Health that she purchased for ten cents at a used book fair. And it wasn't too many years later that Mr. Moody, who today lives and works in West Tisbury, Massachusetts, joined The Mother Church and served as First Reader in his local branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Motivated by a desire to help others, he served as The Mother Church's Committee on Publication for Louisiana for seven years, and, in 1975, began to advertise in the Journal as a full-time practitioner of Christian Science healing.

Moody became a teacher of Christian Science in 1979, and since then has conducted an annual 12-session course on spiritual healing in New Orleans, Louisiana. Author of more than 500 articles on Christian Science, he has served The Mother Church in numerous official capacities, including Assistant Manager of Committees on Publication, Associate Editor and Editor of the Christian Science periodicals, Clerk, President, and Second Reader.
