GLIMPSES OF GRACE

'THIS SIMPLE RULE'

From the May 2007 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One concept I've kept on my prayer-radar for some time revolves around this guideline in Science and Health (p.411): "Always begin your treatment by allaying the fear of patients. Silently reassure them as to their exemption from disease and danger."

I follow this advice in every challenge I face. I always begin my metaphysical treatment of the things I pray about in my life by allaying fear—either my own fear or the fear of someone for whom I may be praying, such as family members. And I don't wait for adversity. I follow this advice BEFORE things go wrong, keep trouble at bay.

I silently reassure myself or my loved ones that I and they are exempt from danger, disease, and every other form of apparent trouble-pain, sorrow, calamity—you name it. This prayer covers the whole spectrum, the treatment of any ailments to the treatment of any curveball life throws your way.
