CHURCH ALIVE

A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS told my parents...

From the February 2010 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS told my parents about Christian Science. They were looking for a church they could relate to, so we were going from church to church, and we ended up at the Jehovah's Witness church. A woman at the church said there was healing activity going on in the Christian Science church and that her husband had been seeing a Christian Science practitioner and reading Christian Science periodicals. She gave us a contact at the church, and we began attending Christian Science church services in Accra when I was twelve. I loved Christian Science at once. I could grasp the idea that everything God created was perfect—just as it should be.

Later our family started a Christian Science Society in Tema with the help of a Christian Science teacher.

LAST YEAR, A FRIEND asked me to check out the Christian Science Society in Tema, and I did. I began to attend services every Sunday, and I liked them. I was going through a lot at the time. The church members really took me into their hearts and asked me if I had any problems, and if I did, I should see them and we would discuss anything. There was a lot of cordiality. Every Sunday they would ask me how I was doing, and they shared some Christian Science Sentinels and Journals with me. I've introduced Christian Science to a lot of my friends since learning about it, and especially my family. I give the Journals to them.

I'm learning more about Christian Science as I read the books by Mary Baker Eddy. I have this passion for Christian Science. I like being able to read and study the Christian Science Bible Lesson all week on your own. I read almost all the citations before I come to church. It's really enlightening me, and I'm learning more about the Bible. Reading the Bible Lesson has helped me pray about a lot of things.

If I miss church, I feel like I'm missing something. I'm now looking for membership forms for The Mother Church, so I can formally join it and help the Church.
