A new President of The Mother Church

From the April 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As you know, our good friend Marta Greenwood, C.S.B., has been serving as President of The Mother Church. While there are still a few months left in her one-year term, she has asked to step away from this office to take some quiet time for herself. With great love and appreciation for all she’s accomplished as President, the Christian Science Board of Directors has accepted her request.

The Board has elected Channing Walker, C.S., to complete the term as President.

Channing is devoted to the full-time practice of Christian Science healing. His longtime dedication to the public practice began while he was living in New York City several decades ago. He later returned to his native Southern California. Many of you will know of Channing’s substantial service to our Cause from his hundreds of articles published in the Christian Science periodicals, some of which have been unsigned editorials. He has also served as a member of the Board of Lectureship. Channing participates actively in church from a small town nestled in the mountains near San Bernardino National Forest. From this quiet spot, he’s looking forward to fulfilling this office, prayerfully supporting the Church officers and members, and he invites us all to join him in this prayer.
