For several years after I joined The Mother Church (at age 12), I kept the Clerk’s acceptance letter under the glass top on my dresser, where I’d see it every day. I did this partly because I really did feel happy about becoming a member while I was still in Sunday School, but also because my parents and Sunday School teacher had encouraged me to take this step, and I knew they were proud of me.
And that’s where my Mother Church membership stayed for a number of years: visible under the glass; a good thing to see, though not always an active influence in my daily life as a teenager. It wasn’t until I entered college that my Mother Church membership became something much more. It grew into a tangible, guiding compass point that ultimately led to a life-changing healing, and to a life-long embrace of Christian Science.
I suddenly felt the "all-embracing power" of The Mother Church, attracting me to God, divine Spirit, in this hour of obvious need. I felt loved!
