Christ Jesus’ disciples marveled at his healing power. When he quieted a dangerous storm on the sea, they said, “What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!” (Matthew 8:27). Likewise, readers of the Bible today might be mystified by Jesus’ healing works, maybe believing he had some unique personal power that gave him the ability to heal. However, the healing method that Jesus taught his disciples is still available and actively in use today.
The healing power that Jesus demonstrated throughout his ministry of love comes through an understanding of our oneness with God, of our spiritual existence. He said those who believed in him would also be healers (see John 14:12). The book of Acts in the Bible contains a record of healings the disciples accomplished when they put into practice the truths he taught.
Christ Jesus’ power to heal came from his understanding and love of God as All-in-all, the only Mind, power, and presence. He understood the perfect goodness of God and lived his life guided by this goodness. He perceived his fellow men and women as God had created them: good, whole, incorruptible, truthful, and loving. This spiritual perception brought healing to their lives.
