Each morning, I try to pray by focusing on God, good, and what is true about me and the world. The other morning, I woke to the repetition of this line of the Lord’s Prayer as if it were being spoken to me: “Thy will be done” (Matthew 6:10). It came so strong, I couldn’t get past it. It seemed to be the message I needed to remember—that my purpose is to do what God guides me to do.
As I got started with my day, I realized this message applied to my work. I had been feeling discouraged and even overwhelmed by all the different assignments I was juggling. With all the work that needed to be done, I felt I didn’t have enough time to pray.
As a student of Christian Science, I love reading and studying the Holy Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The guidance I receive each time I ponder these books helps me find inspiring answers, some of which inspire me even while I’m resting. So when I was literally awakened by the message “Thy will be done,” I was incredibly grateful to hear what God wanted me to do. To me it meant “Stop it!”—stop all the worrying, fear, and self-doubt.
