Expunging the material record

From the March 2022 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Working in local government in my homeland, New Zealand, I came face to face with the inequitable way in which First Nations people had been treated. Since then, I have often thought of the many past injustices in the world that keep bubbling up to the surface in one form or another with righteous demands that they be rectified. Surely these injustices need to be dealt with—healed!

I think not only of the mistreatment and degradation of First Nations peoples of many countries but also of the peoples who were sold into slavery and wrenched from their homelands. Recently, I felt a deep yearning to find healing inspiration that would help me pray for everyone’s right to understand their heritage as a child of God, Love. This includes those who have been unjustly treated, as well as anyone in need of redemption from wrongdoing.

I knew that finding that healing light through prayer would contribute to bringing light to humanity, giving impetus to forward motion in solving these seemingly insurmountable issues.
