Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

ALONE

" Allness is the measure of the infinite, and nothing less can express God. " In this sentence, found on page 336 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs.

THE PRAYER OF SACRIFICE

The first recorded effort of mortals to commune with God was through the medium of sacrifice, when Abel brought an offering of the firstlings of his flock, and the sincerity of his desire to know God brought him the assurance that his offering was not in vain. He had begun to learn, in his crude way, what Christians of this comparatively enlightened day need also to learn, that honest desire and sacrifice constitute the only acceptable prayer.

ENFORCING PROHIBITION

NOW that the people of the United States have as a nation consented to abolish the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors, the question of enforcing such a drastic law remains to be convincingly answered. That it is being satisfactorily answered daily is evident to those conversant even in a measure with the facts, but the voices of those who cry, "It can never be done!" are still loud in the land.

THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

OF all the fallacious concepts known to mortals, none seems more persistent than the belief in age and time. The world in general sums up human existence in the brief statement that men are born, grow old, and die, and accepts with more or less resignation what appears to be its inevitable destiny.

DEVOTION

SO often devotion is connected with effort and weariness that little joy remains to the one struggling with the responsibility that accompanies devotion to a good cause. Consecration to a good purpose is really a connecting link to all the courage, vitality, originality, and strength needed for the accomplishment of that purpose; it is the positive admission, although a man may not recognize it as such, that good is demonstrable.

"THE WAYS OF CHRISTIANITY"

THE ways of Christianity have not changed," wrote Mrs. Eddy in "Rudimental Divine Science" ( p.

"BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS"

IT is probable that few of the Master's sayings have been less understood by the world at large than the seventh beatitude. To make peace, in the generally accepted meaning of the phrase, is to bring about an agreement between two people, or sets of people, who are apparently at variance.

"COOPERATE WITH THE DIVINE POWER"

NOT a day passes but that, in reading the news of the world, one sees some evidence of "getting together," of more closely cooperating. This need is apparent in every field of human activity, industrial, political, economic; and students of the world's problems agree that this working together can come only through a better understanding of those causes that have tended to separate men rather than to unite them in a common effort to make this a better place to live in.

THE PROMISED LAND

ALL through the early Bible history we find that God promised men a most wonderful place called the promised land. It would be foolish to think that this land was created merely for a few people some thousands of years ago.

LIFE ETERNAL

THERE is hardly a civilized man, to-day, no matter how hardheaded, who has not at some time or other dallied with the thought of life eternal. Even the materialist cannot but be intrigued by the thought, for if life is worth living, then a continuation of life, with a conceivable consummation of all a man's plans and hopes, is a prospect that pleases and stimulates the imagination.
