Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

THE ETERNAL NOW

The difference between time and eternity is a question which constantly arises to puzzle mankind. The usual conception of time is that it consists of the passing of minutes, hours, days, months, and years, due to the revolutions of the earth on its axis and around the sun.

WORDS AND THE WORD

When we stop to think about what are used so commonly as words, we realize that they are very wonderful and interesting. They are our means of communication, our method of conveying thought.

LOYALTY RADIATED

Mrs. Eddy's wonderfully exact use of words continually enlightens the one endeavoring to turn from the dualism of unreal sense testimony to the light of Spirit.

ABSOLUTE TRUTH

Nothing is more important to a practical working knowledge of Christian Science than to make a clear distinction between the real and the unreal in all that we see and think and say and do. There is, perhaps, no better practice in Christian Science than to study the Bible and the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, asking ourselves with almost every sentence we read, "Does this refer to the absolute state of being or only to the human belief?" That many who are called Christian Scientists do not carefully make this distinction is woefully evident in their statements and acts, and the failure to do so accounts for much confusion of thought and inability to obtain that freedom which always accompanies the understanding of the truth.

RECREATION

Mankind seek recreation in varieties of ways, but it is the general opinion that life without it would be a poor thing. The pleasure of social intercourse, the joy of traveling, sight-seeing, and above all delight in the arts and music, had seemed very great to me.

ALONE

" Allness is the measure of the infinite, and nothing less can express God. " In this sentence, found on page 336 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs.

THE PRAYER OF SACRIFICE

The first recorded effort of mortals to commune with God was through the medium of sacrifice, when Abel brought an offering of the firstlings of his flock, and the sincerity of his desire to know God brought him the assurance that his offering was not in vain. He had begun to learn, in his crude way, what Christians of this comparatively enlightened day need also to learn, that honest desire and sacrifice constitute the only acceptable prayer.

ENFORCING PROHIBITION

NOW that the people of the United States have as a nation consented to abolish the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors, the question of enforcing such a drastic law remains to be convincingly answered. That it is being satisfactorily answered daily is evident to those conversant even in a measure with the facts, but the voices of those who cry, "It can never be done!" are still loud in the land.

THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

OF all the fallacious concepts known to mortals, none seems more persistent than the belief in age and time. The world in general sums up human existence in the brief statement that men are born, grow old, and die, and accepts with more or less resignation what appears to be its inevitable destiny.

DEVOTION

SO often devotion is connected with effort and weariness that little joy remains to the one struggling with the responsibility that accompanies devotion to a good cause. Consecration to a good purpose is really a connecting link to all the courage, vitality, originality, and strength needed for the accomplishment of that purpose; it is the positive admission, although a man may not recognize it as such, that good is demonstrable.
