As we become more and more interested in Christian Science we may find ourselves more rarely visiting the shelves where former favorites, the works of poets, philosophers, and other thinkers, are kept. We may not feel that these books did not merit the attention bestowed upon them, but their thought can no longer serve as we walk in the radiant light of this new revelation of Truth.

All Christendom unites in believing that the mission of the Master was to bring "on earth peace, good-will toward men. " If we take simply a superficial glance at present existing conditions of life, we might think that men were farther away than ever before from this exalted condition.

To many thinkers the terms prayer and supplication are synonymous, but in the light of Christian Science we find that prayer means that God's will is done, not shall be, and that in supplication we have usually desired our own way, and so have endeavored to instruct God as to what we think necessary. God is the one Mind, the one true thinker, the one Principle or governor, and so we cannot desire Him to do contrary to His divine will.

It is absolutely essential to our highest happiness and success that we learn how to work out our own salvation; which must be both complete and universal. It is just as needful for the sober-headed business man as for the Christian Science practitioner to learn how to work out the problem of salvation.

We are glad to publish the following interesting letter and enclosures received from our Leader. That legislatures and courts are thus declaring the liberties of Christian Scientists is most gratifying to our people; not because a favor has been extended, but because their inherent rights are recognized in an official and authoritative manner.

"The Christian Scientist," Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health, page 450, "has enlisted to lessen evil, disease, and death;" a reformatory work of" the broadest possible scope, embracing as it does the alleviation and ultimate cure of all the ills that flesh is heir to,—ethical, pathological, social, economic, and industrial.

Christianity is essentially a practical religion. There never was a man who was less of a visionary than Christ Jesus.

A Leading daily newspaper in one of the cities of the middle West contains an editorial review of a lecture on Christian Science which had just been delivered there, wherein it is said,— "He [the lecturer] did not refer to the fact that death has existed throughout the entire earth in all ages as one of the conditions of evolution, that from it there could be no escape, and that most Christians regard it as the gateway to a higher life; but he talked as if death, physical death, was something that did not belong in the divine order and might be overcome. In this strain the speaker proceeded,.

As I read the Journal and Sentinel , is seems to me that every needful thing is being said, and much better than I can say it. But the duty rests upon each of us to acknowledge God as revealed by Christian Science.
