The Church Mary Baker Eddy founded Christian Scientists view "Church" as far more than a static building, a place to rehearse denominational beliefs, or even a group of like-minded people. Rather, Church is regarded as a dynamic force for good in the lives of individuals throughout the world.

Sometimes minding our own business means exactly that. Other times, especially if we see someone heading for trouble, it may be tempting to offer an opinion or a bit of helpful advice.
Every day, every hour, we are deluged by thoughts and images from friends and co-workers, from various public media. How often do we really take time to consider their value or impact on our lives? And if some of the thoughts and images current in the general mental atmosphere aren't beneficial, can we be strong enough to resist them? Christian Science answers this last question with a very emphatic "yes!" Through the understanding that God is the only Mind we can demonstrate inviolable mental integrity.
At a time when I was striving to follow Christian Science more faithfully, a Christian Scientist encouraged me to read aloud this By-Law from the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy: " Alertness to Duty.
One of the most powerful aspects of Christian Science is its profound simplicity. Unfortunately, we frequently lose sight of this simplicity, or obscure it, because in our human efforts to "learn" this Science, and to live it, we tend to picture it as a complex array of individual "truths" to be acquired and "mastered," rather than one integrated, seamless whole.
