To a Pilgrim

Intrepid traveler, carry your lantern high; so many travel darkened roads these days. O wayfarer, hear their cry, and answer back with gratitude and praise for only one creator, governing all, holding His own children near and dear.

Lesson from naaman

I sighed to drop my load Where Love's sweet waters flowed, And yet was loath to drop the self that sighed, That with self-pitying tongue To its vain being clung And would not quite forgo its foolish pride. But God's swift angel came With heavenly love aflame And sternly bade me that sad self deny; After with accents mild Called me His well-loved child And bade me gently on His arms rely, And then to strive no more, But close the closet door, Be silent there, and listen what He saith: "Look inward to the shrine Where perfect Love divine Tears down the tattered veil of birth and death.

The Road of Patience

Not through the valleys lies the road of patience, but over lofty peaks of right desire, on every hand the wonders of God's presence and Soul's serene and sun-bright atmosphere. Not through the slough of tedium and depression the road of patience runs, but on the hills of firm resolve and steadfast recognition that man expresses God and never fails.

Two Went and Told

Ah , to have rested then, On the vision, At point of revelation! To have leaned on the words flung From wall to wall of rock. But the commission? "Go quickly.

Preparation

I moved with joy about the room Till all within was gleaming, fair; Then rested, waited patiently, And suddenly my guest was there! So let me cleanse this heart of mine, Free from all thought of self and sin. Then wait with joy and Love enthroned, So that the Christ may enter in.

Mary Magdalene

Not without reason did the Master first Appear to her on resurrection day. Of those who followed him, none did more thirst For deeper knowledge of the Christly way.
