Testimonies of Healing

I want to express my deep gratitude for a healing that took place many years ago. I was a relatively new student of Christian Science, having been raised in an orthodox religion, and I had not yet experienced a significant healing through the study and practice of Christian Science.

An important By-Law in the Manual of The Mother Church requires that a Christian Scientist “not be made to forget nor to neglect his duty to God, to his Leader, and to mankind” ( p. 42 ).

Nearly 30 years ago, when I was living in California, a small growth appeared on my face. I didn’t take much notice of it until my hairdresser remarked, “Oh, you’re just like me—you’ll eventually get around to doing something about that.

What looked like a catastrophe calms down quickly, and order is restored through reliance on God.

A chronic seasonal condition is healed.

Three years ago, my husband and I decided to sell the condo where we had been living for 13 years. We reserved part of the money to honor other commitments and part to purchase a new property.

Some time ago I had a small growth under one arm that was very painful when touched or disturbed. I could not wash normally on that part of my skin because of the pain, and I had the impression the growth was getting larger.

During the spring a few years ago, I went abroad to Peru with a group of college students for three months. It was a life-changing semester filled with abundant adventure and opportunity, and stimulated immense personal and spiritual growth.

I was employed at a successful and growing investment firm, which overnight in November 2003 experienced a change of leadership because of allegations of unethical behavior. Staff morale was low while government regulatory agencies began their investigations.

In the words of a hymn, “Prayer is the simplest form of speech / That infant lips can try” (James Montgomery, Christian Science Hymnal, No. 284 ).
