IMMANUEL

From the August 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While uncounted thousands of men and women are finding in Christian Science the satisfying end of their search for the living God, that search goes on for many millions of others who have not yet turned to the simple spiritual facts of their divine birthright as revealed in the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

It is to establish in their own consciousness more and more evidence of God's presence and, incidentally, to provide assurance of that presence for all who are still groping in the wilderness of materialism that grateful, consecrated Christian Scientists are happily practicing their religion and producing its healing effects in ever-increasing measure today.

Exclaimed Job, in the midst of his great travail and his earnest longing for a conscious awareness of God's beneficent presence, "Oh that I knew where I might find him!" Christian Scientists have found an effective and comforting answer to this poignant outcry and to the plaintive query of Job's friend Zophar, who asked, "Canst thou by searching find out God?" Christian Scientists know by experience that the divine presence is readily available—that God's loving care is exactly where man is. They accept in its full meaning the declaration of Christ Jesus (Luke 17:21), "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
