Using the power of Spirit or immortal Mind alone by which to heal sin and bodily disease and ultimately to lay off his corporeal body, Christ Jesus showed that matter, including the mortal body, is composed solely of unreal material beliefs. Before his followers can successfully prove the unreality of sin and bodily disease by the power of Spirit, or immortal Mind, alone, they too must understand matter to be but mortal belief.
As long as physical symptoms of disease are believed to be separate from mortal thought, they cannot be dispelled by spiritually scientific right thought. Such symptoms must be found to be what Jesus proved and what Christian Science reveals them to be, namely phases of mortal belief. What other explanation can there be for Jesus' immediate correction or destruction of disarranged bodily conditions, called disease, by the power of Mind alone, except that those seeming bodily symptoms are but externalized modes of mortal mind?
Evil would lull mortals into succumbing to the belief that they can be Christians and reach heaven by dying out of a mortal body while they are believing in the reality of matter or flesh and are enjoying its allurements. Christian Science shows the impossibility of any future immunity from a material body unless it is gained in the way that Christ Jesus pointed out. That way is by understanding and demonstrating the reality of immortal Mind and its idea, man, and the unreality or nothingness of mortal mind and its phenomenon, called matter.
