Conferences on spirituality and healing in medicine

Christian Science healing practices

The department of continuing education at Harvard Medical School and the Mind/ Body Medical Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, will be holding their fifth conference on "Spirituality & Healing in Medicine" in Houston, Texas, from March 22 to 24.

During the fourth conference in the series, in Boston in December, there were talks on African, Buddhist, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Islamic, Hispanic-Pentecostal, Christian Science, and several other healing practices, and plenary sessions on the efficacy of spiritual healing and its place in current medical practice.

The talk on Christian Science was given by , Chairman of The Christian Science Board of Directors. Through her comments, which included illustrations from her healing practice, she explained something of how Christian Science treatment works. Here are some excerpts:
