The owner of a small luncheonette apparently had a clever sense of humor. There was a big sign hanging on the wall right over the cash register: FREE LUNCH TOMORROW.
It was a silly customer-sabotage of sorts. But the message was clear. If anybody walked out, expecting to return for free lunch tomorrow, he or she could keep going and coming forever, but he certainly wouldn’t get a free lunch, would he?
After the initial fun, the foolish thought of a “free lunch tomorrow” brought practical insight. It made me think about how easy it is to sabotage ourselves with regard to healing. For example, if I don’t feel well and I take the mental standpoint of expecting healing tomorrow, how certain am I to get it?
