Inviting in spiritual intuitions

- Practice, Practice, Practice

Have you ever felt that Christian Science works for some people, but not for others? Sometimes we may become so familiar with the words of Christian Science that we no longer read them in a way that invites in spiritual intuitions. Conviction of the veracity of the words of Christian Science is necessary for its effective application.

We have all experienced intuitions that help us solve questions, whether we are completing a crossword puzzle, solving a difficult mathematical equation, or doing any other sort of mental activity at a problem-solving level. An intuition is like a light bulb turning on in thought and telling us that a solution has been reached, what that solution is, and that it is the correct one. No matter what the apparent problem at hand looks like, Mary Baker Eddy tells us that intuitions are the work of God, who “gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts …” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 506).

When we ponder questions about the reality of spiritual being, spiritual intuitions not only answer our questions, but help convince us of the actuality of spiritual and ideal being, here and now. In other words, these spiritual intuitions help move our consciousness from a material to a spiritual standpoint.
