On a recent visit to London, I found I had packed everything but my raincoat. Determined not to allow self-condemnation to upset a family trip, I visited two stores hoping to find a replacement. The first store did not have my size, and I was directed to another store in the same chain. On arriving there, I realized I no longer had my cellphone. I asked the manager if he would call the first store and ask if my phone had been found. He was glad to call on my behalf and told me that no phone had been located. A sales representative then suggested that I quickly call my credit card companies, as she had recently been the victim of identity theft.
A recent article I had read on JSH-Online.com titled “How I prayed when I lost my wallet” came to mind. Like that testifier, I decided to affirm that the integrity and honesty of man were intact and that God, Mind, was in complete control, governing all. Despite the assurance that no phone had been found, I felt led to return to the first store in person. On the way there, I affirmed that because divine Mind, knows, sees, and governs all action, nothing is unseen by Mind and there could be no mistaken action. I reasoned that therefore all action must express integrity and honesty.
At the first store, I asked a security guard if a phone had been found. He said not to his knowledge, and directed me to the lost-and-found. I asked a representative there if a phone had been turned in earlier that night, and I was told no phones had been located. As I stood there, I felt led to ask if a manager might be available. One soon showed up and kindly responded, “Let’s walk through the store and see if we can’t find your phone together.”
