Sunlight on a rainy day

- Practice, Practice, Practice

It was one of those days that evergreen trees and shrubs must love—misty rain settling into a chilly drizzle. I admit I don’t always share their enthusiasm.

I arrived at my downtown office at 9:00 a.m., checked and rechecked the schedule for the day, shuffled papers, rearranged pencils on the desk, cleaned out a drawer, and glanced at the clock to see how close it was to noon. It was 9:10 a.m. It was going to be a long day.

But I’ve learned some life-changing lessons from the study of the Scriptures and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. One of them is that man (woman, too) has God-given dominion “over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:26). I wondered if that included dominion over a creeping sense of time.
