Putting on record insights into the practice of Christian Science.

THE JOY AND IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTIAN HEALING

Christ Jesus healed the sick through spiritual means. There is no doubt about it.

ONLY WHAT IS ETERNAL IS REAL

Only the life and individuality which are eternal are real, Christian Science teaches. Accordingly this Science constantly turns thought away from temporal matter and material selfhood, wherein mortal life is identified, to the immortality of God, self-existent Mind, and the equally immortal nature of Mind's expression, spiritual man.

THE CEASELESS LAW OF SPIRITUAL UNFOLDMENT

In the teachings of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy has revealed to the world the true nature of creation as the unfolding of spiritual ideas. On pages 502 and 503 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she says: "There is but one creator and one creation.

"WE ARE HID WITH CHRIST FOREVER"

One who had lately been called to serve as First Reader of a large Christian Science church was asked if he was finding much to meet in his new activity. "Much?" he replied.

ACCEPTING DEMONSTRATION

The basis of all demonstration in Christian Science is the great fact that God is Spirit and His entire creation is spiritual, the complete and perfect reflection of His complete and perfect being. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, makes this clear in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where on page 259 she writes, "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration.

THE WORD "IDEA" AS USED IN CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

The word "idea" is a little word with a big meaning. It has an important place in the teachings of Christian Science, as is evidenced by the frequency with which Mary Baker Eddy uses it in her writings.

"BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD"!

With what joy must John the Baptist have exclaimed, "Behold the Lamb of God"! Prophetically he had been foretelling the coming of a teacher mightier than he, but apparently their paths had not crossed up to the time that Jesus came to him for baptism. According to three of the Gospels, John definitely heard a "voice from heaven" identifying the Master as the promised Messiah; hence his glad salutation ( John 1:29 ), "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

"SAFE IN THE CERTAINTY OF IMMORTALITY"

ONE meaning of the meaningful First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" ( Ex. 20:3 ), is pointed out by Mary Baker Eddy thus: "Thou shalt have no belief of Life as mortal" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.

SAFETY OF SUBSTANCE

WHERE shall we look for substance that is safe—safe from what are called the ravages of time, safe from theft, from decay and diminution? The answer to this question is indicated in Christ Jesus' familiar command: "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. " Christian Science teaches us the true meaning of these words and their supreme practicality.

A WORTHY RESOLUTION FOR THE NEW YEAR

THIS is the traditional season for New Year resolutions; this is the time, say many mortals, for turning over a new leaf, for the abandonment of some enslaving habit, and for the resolve to walk in paths of righteousness. But, alas, what will-o'-the-wisps our high resolutions often become! And why is this? Hamlet in the famous soliloquy hints the answer: Thus the native hue of resolution Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought.
