Testimonies of Healing

Am a journalist by profession

From the June 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Am a journalist by profession. Broke down two years ago from overwork in Philadelphia. Physicians called it nervous exhaustion. Forbade me to touch a pen for a year. My wife has been more or less under medical treatment for fifteen years. Doctors' bills made a serious inroad on our small savings. I grew worse, instead of better. Then change of air was recommended, and I was absent in all a year, with no good results. Came home discouraged, to find my wife restored to perfect health through Christian Science. Never heard of such a thing, only in a general way, and should have ridiculed it but for my wife's most remarkable cure. This was six weeks ago. Today I am a well man—eat, sleep and work as of old. Have not touched sedatives or medicines since my return. Christian Science has done it; and how ministers of Christ professing the meek and lowly spirit of their Master show such bitter animosity against a belief whose beginning and ending is based upon God and His promises—prayer and its fulfilment—is something I cannot understand.
